JPFirst Limited is a software and consulting company in Tanga, Tanzania. The company was established in 2001 on the strength of intellectual property developed by Juvent Magoggo (MSc). Mr. Magoggo spent the first 20 years of his career in agricultural research, specialising in land use planning and developing research methods and information systems for land use planning and business management. His hobby was and continues to be the meticulous collection, enriching and cataloguing of soils and other data and developing computer applications for data management and information retrieval. JPFirst Limited is the sole proprietor of this intellectual property.
Since the establishment of JPFirst Limited we have accumulated a collection of more than 100 soil survey reports, research papers, articles and maps in Tanzania, and publications on the application of IT in land use and management.
Between 2001 and 2007 we worked with several local government authorities (LGAs) in Tanzania to develop information systems for three-year strategic plans. This work involved extracting objectively verifiable development indicators from the strategic development plans, designing data collection formats, data processing procedures and information flow systems.
For some LGAs, we developed a software application for monitoring changes in development indicators.
In 2006 we undertook an assignment for the Tanzania Sisal Board in Tabora and Dodoma regions to identify the suitability of a number of sites for establishing demonstration plots for sisal. We have also assisted the Tanzania Sisal Board in association with Katani Limited in other projects such as preparing the draft of the Tanzania National Strategy for Energy.
In July 2010 we worked for Booth Associates of Australia on a study to verify the soil distribution of an area in Rufiji Basin.
In late 2012 we were commissioned by Katani Limited to prepare, in association with MIM Associates Limited, feasibility studies and business plans for ten of its subsidiary companies.
In 2013 we carried out assignment to review Katani Limited’s corporate strategic plan for the period 2013 - 2022 through a participatory process to identify challenges encountered in implementing the previous strategic plan and ensure that the plan was developed using specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound targets.
Our software application for human resources management and payroll processing continues to give value to a growing number of forward-looking companies, government departments and NGOs.
